Awesome DJs - have been to several parties they've done for friends and all have been fantastic. They definitely know how to keep the energy up while maintaining the class level of a party - incredible music choices this past weekend.

I first discovered Philadelphia DJ in 2007 at a Philadelphia Eagles team event at which they were djing and I new that I wanted them for a party of my own.  I reserved them for my wedding in 2011 as soon as I started the planning, and my wedding earlier this month was even better than i had imaged.  I loved my wedding party, my friends are still talking about it, and the djs played a significant role.  The free dance floor lighting was spectacular and the music transitioned seamlessly over the course of the evening.  Looking forward to more parties with them soon.

My favorite djs!  (keep in mind that I reserve my 5 stars reviews for my favorite restaurants and travel destinations so 4 is certainly way up there on my personal rating scale) We hired Philadelphia DJ for our wedding and they were extremely fun to work with. During both of our pre wedding meetings our dj showed up with so much energy and was a delight.  I'm Filipino so just imagine what kinds of names he had to pronounce but he confirmed with everyone beforehand and pronounced everyone's named perfectly. From the cocktail hour up until open dance he coordinated everything and made sure it all ran smoothly. During the dance session he kept all of our requests coming and the dance floor was never empty. Philadelphia DJ provided overall excellent service.

We hired philadelphia dj for our wedding after getting a recommendation from friends.  People were on the dance floor all night long and keep telling me how great the music was!!  I couldn't have been happier.  If you are considering using them you will not be disappointed.  Laura listened to what we wanted and executed perfectly.  We didn't want standard, boring music but wanted an upbeat but classy feel throughout the night and they did an awesome job.  they also did the music for our wedding ceremony and it was beautiful.  I was insanely nervous about not having live music but I couldn't have been happier with philadelphia dj doing our ceremony music.  they didn't miss a beat.

Philadelphia dj was a pleasure to work with.  We had a wide range of guests in terms of age, and our dj did an awesome job working with what WE wanted in our wedding.  They created a super fun, classy party-- and they even managed to get a few of our motown and oldies request in there, blended together perfectly.  Very responsible, reasonably priced, and oh-so-much fun.  We would definitely recommend them for weddings and parties-- they did an amazing job on our special day!

The Philadelphia deejay got back to me very quickly after I sent an initial email inquiry. All communication was prompt and transparent, and they quickly hooked me up with a phone consultation although they offered a free in person meeting.  This was a nice touch, but I was planning our wedding long distance. They were great from the get-go, explaining the process to me in detail and discussing what we liked, what we didn't, what our venue was, the makeup of our guest list, etc. And I liked their approach (and price!) best, so we booked right away. From there, we didn't need to communicate too much until about a month prior to the wedding. At that time, they had me send him a list of our must-plays and do not plays, as well as specific songs for parents dances, our first dance, etc. In addition, they had me give specific feedback on a lengthy set list (I circled the ones we really, really loved and crossed out ones that we hated). This gave them a really strong idea of the parameters of our music likes and dislikes. And we had one more phone conversation to confirm everything and make sure we were on the same page. At the reception, we had a brief face-to-face introduction before he started the evening off. And once it began, the party really started. As we had a more cocktail style reception (no formal table seating and a buffet of comfort food), the dj embarked on really an amazing, four-hour dance set. And he was awesome! Our guests didn't stop dancing all night, and our wedding dj was great at feeling out the crowd and spinning in tune with the energy.

I will try not to just reiterate all the previous 5 star reviews, but have to say if you are considering going with them for your wedding, do it!  We worked with Philadelphia dj for our wedding last month. They were super receptive to our ideas and had a lot of really good ones to add. During our wedding reception not only was the music superb, but they were essential in organizing the evening, and even advocated on our behalf when the venue staff tried to rush us. Ultimately, not only do they know music, but they know weddings, and you will be so thankful to have a philadelphia dj there so you can just enjoy the evening.

We hired Philadelphia DJ to do our wedding last week in New Hope, PA. They handled everything from perfect timing of the ceremony music, to the special dances, announcements and of course, keeping the dance party going strong all night. Admittedly I'm extremely particular when it comes to music, and gave them an extensive list of must-plays, must-not plays for each part of the night - pre-ceremony, dinner, etc. etc. and he just rolled with it, and was spot on with his timing and mix. My main concern of the night was to get off schedule since we really packed it in with several speeches, a raffle (Fratallanza Italian-club style), special dances, etc. but they kept us on track with plenty of dancing at the end. We even pulled off a flash mob in the middle of the dance floor and they timed it great so everyone had a clear cue to begin. All our guests had great compliments about all the music - and we had a range of old and young with several different tastes - and all of them stayed on the dance floor which was awesome. Book them for your wedding (early, they are popular for good reason!) and don't look back - they truly makes it a stress-free and fun experience for everyone.

My wife and I spoke with a number of DJs for our wedding and none of them came close to the professionalism of the Philadelphia DJ company. They were prompt with emails and phone communications and came across at all times as professional and not the least bit hokey -- thanks for breaking that stereotype! We ended up taking a little too long to finally pull the trigger and book them for our actual reception, but luckily they were still available and we promptly booked. They were right on time and set up with no problems and managed to keep the dance floor packed all night despite a our event-filled reception schedule. We were very pleased from start to finish with the professionalism and courteousness demonstrated by everyone involved. Highly recommended!

Philadelphia DJ did a fantastic job providing the dance music for our wedding.  I looked at many other music options, ones that are less expensive, but as many others before me have stated, the difference between a professional DJ and an amateur DJ is night and day.  A real DJ will take your suggestions and find other songs that compliment the feeling you are trying to achieve, will precisely beat-match songs to seamlessly flow between tracks, and will respond to the crowd quickly if a particular song starts to thin out the crowd.  As for preparation, Philadelphia DJ was very professional and very responsive.  We had an initial meeting and another meeting right before our reception.  All of our other correspondence was via e-mail, although they were also available over the phone.  You never realize how much stress is involved with planning a wedding and one of the things that adds to that stress is the wedding playlist.  They simply requested for a handful of songs that I wanted to be played at the wedding and he would take those suggestions and construct a playlist that would promote the type of high-energy and happiness that I was looking for.  Our DJ was very prompt to our wedding and provided the dance music system, brought a pretty cool light system, as well as an additional wireless mic speaker system that we used for the speeches/ announcements during dinner.  Excellent wedding DJ company.

One of the main things that I talked about with Philadelhpia DJ, when I was still in the selection process of hiring a DJ for our wedding, was that I was looking for a wedding DJ that wasn't really there.  What I mean by that is that I didn't want a DJ that would be the center of attention, play stupid little wedding games, or be an over-controlling MC like I have seen in other weddings I have attended.  I wanted a DJ who could get my guests to remember how they loved the music and wonder why they never stopped dancing.  Mission accomplished with Philadelphia DJ.  Classy.

We can't stop saying how much we love the dj that we booked from Philadelphia dj!  He was everything we expected and more!  At the last minute, our uncle backed out of doing announcements at our wedding so our dj from  Philadelphia DJ agreed to do the announcements for us!  Also, he helped to divert a disaster with the videographer by helping to reroute and tape down their wires so it was not a safety hazard, so it was clear that our DJ was completely making sure that everything went smoothly during our reception.  Now to his music skills!  The ceremony music turned out perfect and without any need for rehearsal.  For the reception dance music, he kept the crowd going and even put on some cha cha/salsa music that my relatives requested beforehand.  My fiance knows his stuff about music and wanted to splurge on the DJ.  I am glad that we were able to find this wedding dj company to make our wedding day, a day to remember.  Everyone is still raving about what a great party it was and the music and lighting.  I recommend.  Thanks again for everything you did to make our wedding so awesome!

Don't even bother with another DJ.  Our dj from Philadelphia dj company was talented; he made the difference between just another wedding, and a wedding that people will talk about for years. He was very prompt in returning emails, offered us great advice along the way, and was totally cool with last minute changes to our timeline and music list in the week leading up to our wedding. Our cocktail hour was adjacent to a barn and we really wanted to have bluegrass music; knowing this was probably outside of most dj's usual realm of music requests, we sent him mp3 files of our favorites and he mixed them together wonderfully. We also requested a downtempo jazz lounge feel for dinner (don't get me wrong, I love Frank Sinatra too, but we didn't want the same ol' playlist that you hear at every other wedding); it definitely set the stage for a more contemporary wedding dinner.  Thank you for an unbeatable wedding day!

We want to write an absolute amazing review here for philadelphia dj.  Our dj was everything that we could have hoped and more. When a DJ at your wedding starts off the dancing portion after the first dance and father daughter dance with a *bricket bricket* record scratch you know you are in for some dancing.  the dj kept the pace upbeat and put in so much consideration for appealing to all age groups at the wedding. He was great to correspond with via email and sent us all of our songs to listen to prior to the big day, which was very helpful. He was able to find all of the songs we requested, even some weird tracks. You can also send him what you need.  Given that we had a deep set list to start with, we highlighted a lot of MUST HEAR songs and he was sure to incorporate them in, even when a lot of them were hipster hits from Miike Snow, Deadmau5, LCD Soundsystem etc. He even mixed songs together in advance that I had suggested. Simply amazing. Our dance floor was literally bouncing up and down all night, and it was so crazy, we had to extend him by nearly two hours which he was happy to do! Literally, we could have been going all night, but since it was an outdoor venue, we had to be somewhat respectful for our neighbors. the dj also came with two systems (one for the ceremony with a wireless microphone and a wireless hand mic), which was transferred to double for the dinner portion. So long review, and I could keep going, but the net net is that if you want to have a DJ who is going surpass your expectations and turn your wedding into a raging dance party (I have never seen my aunts and uncles cut a rug so hard), I would say don't think twice about hiring Philadelphia dj for your wedding.

Philadelphia DJ was one of the first things my friends booked for their wedding, which was this past June. I remember how excited they were to hire a really good DJ that they had heard at another event.  Even with this build up, we were not disappointed!  The DJ was a cool professional, and the mood of the evening was set perfectly -- from the speeches to the more background music in the beginning to the fantastic dance music he ended the night with.  I loved that he followed the list that my friends had clearly provided (Don't You Want Me by Human League? Toby Keith? Hips Don't Lie? I'm looking at you KP ;) Any DJ that will agree to play Toby Keith when the bride and her friends have a thing for him, is certainly aiming to please.

Questions To Ask Any DJ Company

1. Do you belong to any professional trade organizations?
The most common professional trade organization in the Philadelphia wedding DJ community is The American Disc Jockey Association (ADJA).  Another popular one is National Association of Mobile Entertainers (N.A.M.E.).  Belonging to a professional trade organization symbolizes the Philadelphia wedding DJ company’s commitment to excellence, to stay plugged in to their trade, to stay on top of the popular trends in the wedding business, and more importantly, an outward promise to operate their business at high ethical standards.  These organizations meet regularly, allowing members to openly share ideas that make the overall wedding entertainment industry better.  However, being a member of one of these trade organizations does not automatically guarantee that your Philadelphia wedding DJ will be the right fit for you.

2. Are you insured?
Stay away from wedding DJ companies in Philadelphia that are not insured for at least $1,000,000 of general liability insurance.  Ask to see their certificate of coverage.  This liability insurance protects you, the wedding DJ company in Philadelphia and the venue against any liability in the event of injury or accident caused by the DJ.  In fact, many banquet facilities and venues now REQUIRE the wedding DJ to provide proof of insurance prior to setting up any equipment.  Don’t get caught with a wedding DJ company in Philadelphia trying to set up their equipment on your wedding day, and the venue denying them access to the room due to lack of insurance.  This insurance is not very expensive, and is simply irresponsible on the wedding DJ’s part not to have it.

3. Do you have professional equipment?
Sadly, this is an area where a lot of amateur wedding DJ’s in Philadelphia spend their time trying to convince you to use their service over another competitor… by bragging about their gear.  Why?  Because if they have no other credentials to talk about, they will automatically use their sound system and song list as their sales pitch.  Beware of companies that put too much emphasis on this area.   With that being said, it is still a good idea to at least see an equipment list.  Professional-grade, concert-quality equipment is what you are looking for.  Your wedding DJ in Philadelphia also should have equipment mounted inside a protective case (also referred to as a “flight case” or “road case”).  These cases are aesthetically appealing, as they hide all the messy cable from plain view.  You should stay away from Philadelphia wedding DJ's that use “home audio” brands or components because they are not designed to endure the frequent bumps that take place when transported.  Some top brands for Philadelphia wedding DJ equipment include Pioneer, Numark, Denon, Crown, JBL, Electo-Voice (EV), Mackie, RANE, Serato, QSC, American Audio, American DJ, Shure, and many others.  It’s also a good idea to see a photo or video of the equipment set up in a banquet hall, so you know what to expect.

4. Do you bring backup emergency equipment with you to the wedding?
Have you ever had an electronic piece of equipment fail on you at no fault of your own?  Your answer is probably “yes”, but it doesn’t happen very often.  Unfortunately, being a Philadelphia wedding DJ does not make them immune to equipment failure either.  How prepared will your Philadelphia wedding DJ be in the event of equipment failure?  Most competent Philadelphia wedding DJ companies will have an emergency back-up plan.  Are you comfortable with this back-up plan?  Be sure you discuss this important point before you hire them.

5. What if something happens to the DJ and can’t make it to the wedding?
Illnesses, family emergencies, tragic accidents, or even death are all facts of life.  The question again is, how will your Philadelphia wedding DJ company handle this, if something should happen?  Regardless of how it is handled, be sure you are comfortable with their ability to address and manage this crisis.  Most wedding DJ companies will have an emergency back-up wedding DJ that is “on call”, just in case something should happen.  Have you ever thought of what would happen if the wedding DJ gets into an automobile accident en route to your reception site with the equipment in the van?  What would your wedding DJ company do to handle a wedding DJ being rushed to the hospital by ambulance and all the wedding DJ equipment is scattered all over the expressway?  This, of course, is a very extreme scenario, but you should be curious to know how the situation will be handled.

6. How many weddings do you handle per day?
Does your Philadelphia wedding DJ company accommodate other weddings on the same day as yours?  There are definitely pro’s and con’s in working with a multi-unit company versus a single unit operator.  A multi-unit company is usually much better at providing quicker customer service (usually have a staffed office) and can provide better solutions for emergency back-up Philadelphia wedding DJ’s and equipment.  However, if you don’t go with the right multi-unit company, you can get stuck with one that doesn’t take the time to personally service their clients the way they should.  Remember, the larger the company, the more challenging it becomes to give good service.  Can it be done?  Absolutely, but you have to know you are working with a company that can deliver at your level of expectation.  Single-unit operators are usually “weekend warriors” and have another full-time job that keeps them occupied all week long.  So, they probably don’t do their Philadelphia wedding DJ business as a full-time career.  They usually cannot take your call immediately but can also work to your advantage because they only have to concentrate on one wedding at a time as opposed to a multiple-unit operation that has several Philadelphia weddings going on.  There is no right or wrong in this area.  The most important thing for you is to find someone who will give you the attention, peace-of-mind and service that you deserve.

7. Can we meet with you before we book our date?
Beware of companies that don’t offer to meet with you in person.  That practice alone should tell you that customer service is not one of their top priorities.  Most wedding DJ companies in Philadelphia will have a professional office space to meet, while some other smaller or single-unit operators will offer to meet you at a Starbucks, Panera, or even in your own home.  Unless you’ve seen the wedding  DJ company in Philadelphia in action at another wedding before, it is highly recommended you to meet with them in person.  The way they present themselves over the internet, or on the phone can be very different than how they present themselves in person.

8. What is included with your services?
All Philadelphia wedding DJ companies are different, but regardless of who you go with, it’s important to know what you will get at what price … and get it in writing.  Some companies will offer different packages, while some others only have one package and take on a “one size fits all” approach.  Others will offer various add-ons such as lighting and video montages, while others won’t.  You will have to figure out what is most important to you and locate the company that can provide it to you.

9. Do you offer a written contract?
A written contract will outline the Philadelphia wedding DJ’s obligation to provide his services and the clients’ responsibility to pay.  It should include the wedding date, start and end times of the event, the location of the event and cost, just to name a few.  NEVER work with any wedding DJ in Philadelphia without a written contract.  This will protect you against any misunderstanding.  Any Philadelphia wedding DJ promising to provide service to you without a contract is not a responsible business professional and should not be considered as a candidate to perform at your wedding reception.

10. Can we visit you at a performance?
Hopefully, the answer to this is “No”.  Ask yourself this question:  On your Philadelphia wedding day, will you want strangers in your private reception passing through your banquet room to audition and interview the Philadelphia wedding DJ?  Be careful about a wedding DJ in Philadelphia that invites you to come see them at someone else’s wedding.  It’s not only rude to the bride and groom who is celebrating their wedding, but should also demonstrate that the Philadelphia Wedding DJ is taking his attention away from an event that he’s getting paid for.

11. May we speak to your references?
If there is still something inside of you that’s telling you to speak to some of their past Philadelphia wedding client, they should be more than willing to give you a list of people to speak with.

12. How do you keep your music collection up-to-date?
Stay away from wedding DJ’s in Philadelphia that download their music from free or illegal websites.  First of all, it’s illegal.  Secondly, it may be inferior in sound quality.  Thirdly, the versions of songs most commonly found on these types of sites may not be edited for vulgarity and not suitable for wedding receptions.  A pro DJ in Philadelphia will usually subscribe to a professional subscription service that provides all of the new music, edited for all the vulgarities, on a monthly basis.  This music is generally available to a professional Philadelphia Wedding DJ months before the songs even become popular on the radio.  Some popular subscription services are PromoOnly, Prime Cuts and RPM.

13. How involved can we be in selecting music for our event?  Can I see a music list?
Your wedding  DJ in Philadelphia should be able to explain to you their policy in this matter, but most Philadelphia Wedding DJs will want you to provide some sort of list that the bride and groom would like played throughout the night.  Most experienced wedding DJ’s in Philadelphia will also have a music list, or some type of online music library for the bride and groom.  The best wedding DJs in Philadelphia will be sensitive to your music choices, and you probably should avoid any wedding DJ in Philadelphia that refuses to play your music selections.  After all, who’s paying the bill?

14. Do you take music requests from our guests?
Again, you are paying for the service, so you should get what you want.  Some clients want the wedding DJ in Philadelphia to take requests from the audience, and some clients don’t trust their guests and would prefer to have the wedding DJ NOT take their requests.  Your wedding DJ in Philadelphia should be accommodating to your preferences.  However, if you want your wedding DJ taking guest requests, you should ask how they do it.  Some wedding DJs in Philadelphia will leave tacky index cards at each dinner table asking guests to write their requests down and turn in the card.  Others will make an announcement inviting guests to come to the wedding DJ booth to make requests.

15. Can we submit a “Do Not Play” list?
You certainly don’t want music played at your reception that leaves a bad taste in your mouth.  Perhaps there are certain songs that remind you of your ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend that you just care not to hear on your wedding day (it’s okay to laugh).  Maybe it might be an audience participation dance like the “Hokey Pokey” or the “Macarena”.  You should ask how you communicate this information to your wedding DJ in Philadelphia, and if the wedding DJ in Philadelphia is willing to honor your forbidden list.

16. How and when do we submit our music requests and event details?
At some point in time, you will need to let your wedding DJ in Philadelphia know what announcements he is expected to make, when to do them, the names of your bridal party for the introductions (with correct pronunciation), the name of your first dance song, cake cutting music, bouquet and garter music, and the list goes on.  Any professional wedding wedding DJ in Philadelphia will provide you with a worksheet, or provide you access to an online wedding planner for you to complete.  The wedding DJ in Philadelphia should give you plenty of time to work on this information, but you should also have this information completed and turned in with plenty of time (4 to 6 weeks prior to wedding date) for the wedding DJ in Philadelphia to review and prepare for your wedding day.  The wedding DJ in Philadelphia will have plenty of time to track down any requested songs that are not currently in his music library, and make special arrangements for your out-of-the-ordinary requests.

17. After the contract is signed, will we meet again before the wedding?
Depending upon the wedding DJ company in Philadelphia, they may or may not need to meet with you before the wedding date.  However, always work with someone who puts customer service as a priority.  Some wedding DJs in Philadelphia will prefer a final telephone meeting just weeks before the event.  Some Philadelphia Wedding DJs will prefer a final face-to-face meeting with you.  And some will give you the preference of a phone meeting, or a face-to-face meeting.    Unfortunately, the amateur wedding DJ in Philadelphia will not know how to answer this question.  If you had a choice to meet with the wedding DJ in Philadelphia at the initial meeting versus at the final meeting, it’s far more important to meet with them at the initial meeting.

18. How many DJ’s will perform at my event, and how will they be dressed?
Most wedding DJ services in Philadelphia will have 1 or 2 individuals working your event, depending upon how big your sound and light show is, and the degree of difficulty with set-up challenges.  Having more than 2 people behind the wedding DJ booth in Philadelphia starts to look messy, unprofessional, and really unnecessary.  An amateur might have the tendency to start inviting their friends to hang out with them behind the wedding DJ booth in Philadelphia and pretend they are a part of their staff, just to “hang out” at your party.  You should also ask what they will wear.  A tuxedo or a suit should be standard, but you will never know unless you ask.  So, please ask.

19. How many weddings do you do / how experienced are you in weddings?
Some DJ companies in Philadelphia only do strictly weddings, while other DJ’s in Philadelphia will also do corporate events, bar mitzvahs, school dances, and so on.  Whatever the case may be, it’s a good idea to ask how much wedding business their company does each year.  You definitely want to work with a DJ in Philadelphia that does mostly weddings.

20. How do you get your business?
This is a great question to ask your prospective wedding DJ company in Philadelphia.  You’ll be able to tell if this wedding DJ company in Philadelphia is a big player in the industry or not by the way the question will be answered.
